With this new series of portraits, I wanted to experiment and explore my versatility as a painter while still staying true to my artistic perspective and to the way I work. Just as in my flower portraits, each painting starts with a carefully composed scene where I play with light, colour, spatiality and shadow. The shadows are always doubled and painted in the most unexpected hues, becoming as important as the sitter itself. Their dialogue plays with the boundary between reality and perception, referencing Plato's cave, where shadows can become more convincing than reality itself.

What excites me about portraits is the human connection. I enjoy capturing someone's gaze or essence, while leaving room for interpretation. The colours remain bold and expressive, continuing my exploration of light through a different subject.

Until now, I have painted people close to me: artist friends, family and those around me. But I am now expanding the series to include a wider range of people, intrigued by the idea of interpreting a face without knowing the person behind it.
