Flowers have long symbolized beauty, joy, and transformation. Traditionally linked to femininity and domesticity, they were often seen as delicate and transient. With this series, I revisit this saturated theme with a bold, contemporary lens—elevating it to one of strength, status, and timelessness.
Centering on dahlias from my own garden—symbols of strength and dignity—I aimed to capture their grandeur in compositions that honor the Old Masters while remaining modern and personal. Light and shadow create depth, contrast, and movement, while geometric compositions, rich textures, and vibrant colors give the works a striking, theatrical presence.
By transforming this traditionally feminine-coded subject into something vivid and powerful, I bridge past and present, pushing the expressive boundaries of the still-life tradition.
Inspired by nature and imagination, I create carefully constructed compositions where animals take center stage—fully at home in their habitat, yet carrying a quiet mystery. Each work begins with sketches and studies, evolving into scenes that feel both familiar and otherworldly, somewhere between memory and imagination. I paint in oils with expressive, textured brushstrokes to enhance depth and movement. Light and shadow are not just contrasts but shape the atmosphere, creating a space where darkness allows light to emerge as a magical, almost living presence.
I see these works as a modern take on surrealism. With a bold, vibrant palette and dynamic brushstrokes, I portray a symbiosis between fauna and flora. Each creature inhabits its own space, as if frozen in a coincidental moment. Some confront the viewer with an intense, direct gaze, while others quietly watch over their habitat. Their presence creates a tension—both inviting and unsettling—drawing you into their world.
In this earlier series, I created vivid, imagined landscapes inspired by nature but shaped by my own fantasy. Bold contrasts, light and shadow, and complementary colors create depth and tension, while my bright palette and expressive brushstrokes add movement and surprise. Each scene feels grounded yet surreal—a space between reality and imagination, full of energy.
